Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
PicGrab ("the extension", "we") is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what the extension does and does not do with your information. The short version: PicGrab does not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal data.
1. We don't collect personal data
PicGrab contains no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixels and no remote code. We have no servers that receive information about you, and we do not create a profile of you, your browsing or the images you download. We never see what pages you visit or what you save.
2. Everything runs on your device
All of PicGrab's work (scanning a page for images, applying filters, and downloading files) happens locally inside your browser. Images are read from the page you are actively viewing and saved directly to your computer through your browser's standard download mechanism.
3. Permissions and why they're needed
The extension requests only the permissions required to function:
- Access to websites: so it can find images on whatever page you open it on. The page scanner is injected only when you ask for a scan; there is no content script running on every page in the background.
- Active tab & scripting: to read the images present on the current page when you trigger a scan.
- Downloads: to save the images you select to your chosen folder.
- Storage: to remember your settings (download folder, file-naming preference, per-site grouping) on your device. These settings never leave your browser.
- Web request (passive): a local, per-tab journal of image responses that helps catch images loaded by JavaScript. This data stays in your browser and is used only to populate the current scan.
- Notifications: to let you know when a download to a custom folder has completed.
4. Settings storage
Your preferences are stored using your browser's extension storage. If you use your browser's sync feature, your settings may sync across your own signed-in devices via your browser vendor, and PicGrab itself has no access to that synced data.
5. The images you download
Images you choose to download are saved directly to your device. PicGrab does not upload, copy or retain them anywhere else. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to download and use any images, and for complying with the terms of the websites you visit and applicable copyright law.
6. Third parties
PicGrab does not share data with third parties, because it does not collect any. The extension is not affiliated with Google, Microsoft, or any of the websites on which it is used.
7. Children's privacy
PicGrab is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
